On April 22, the Earth Day, “ARIC Group” organized pistachio planting grand ceremony, in which more than 300 guests participated. Our guests represented public as well as private sectors, local and international non-governmental organizations and various business associations. Professors and students of agriculture background also attended the ceremony. The ceremony was commenced with speeches delivered by “ARIC Group’s” investors, their partners, Minister of Agriculture, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Kakheti Governor and other invited guests. One of our special guests was Mr. Pino Calcagni, Vice Chairman of International Nut and Dried Fruit Council. Mr. Pino made a presentation about the pistachio export potential in Europe. Correspondingly, he noted the potential of Georgia in becoming the third largest exporters of pistachio. Mr. Calcagni also emphasized that the existing climate and soil prove once again that Georgia has great potential of developing this particular field. After the official opening of the ceremony, “ARIC Group” signed Memorandums of Understanding with Partnership Fund and the Scientific-Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture. On the one hand, “ARIC Group” and Partnership Fund signed Memorandum of Understanding in order to develop and support the project “VINICHIO VALLEY”. On the other hand, “ARIC Group” and Scientific-Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture signed the Memorandum in order to conduct joint scientific works, and collaborate in the fields of viticulture, fruit-growing, soil fertility research and plant protection. In addition, regular seminars and trainings will be conducted for young specialists on the basis of Scientific-Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and “ARIC Group”. In the framework of the memorandum, land plot for the fieldwork will be established as well. The ceremony continued with pistachio planting. More than 300 guests planted pistachio with their own hands. Each guest received brooch with the unique code. These brooches will allow guests to visit “VINICHIO VALLEY”, observe their pistachio trees and participate in taking care of and harvesting them. All future incomes from the trees planted on the ceremony day will be utilized for the charity. The closing part of pistachio planting grand ceremony was accompanied by the ensemble “Georgian Voices“. In spite of strong wind and bad weather, pistachio planting ceremony was held successfully.
